Title:
  NIC configuration incorrect after upgrade to karmic alpha5

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  After upgrading from 9.04 to 9.10 alpha5 the NIC is configured by DHCP
  instead of using the interfaces file (given below).

  I expected the network settings of eth0 to be the same as before the
  upgrade.

  A strange thing:
  ==========
  sudo ifconfig eth0 down

  sudo ifconfig eth0 192.168.2.2 up 
  now the eth0 interface has IP=192.168.2.2

  sudo route add  default gw 192.168.2.10

  now the interface has IP=192.168.2.106, the IP it gets from the DHCP
  server, weird.
