Title:
chewing keyboard type changes to default after a while(2 minutes when
i tested) even though setting still shows eten. changing to other
keyboard type has no effect. restarting ibus bring it back to the
  saved setting.

Status in “ibus-chewing” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ibus

  I'm running 64bit 9.10 upgraded from 64bit 9.04. All SCIM packages
  have been removed.

I have my keyboard type set to eten for chewing chinese input. When
IBus starts up, it works fine. After 2 minutes the keyboard type
changes to default. The setting still shows eten but it is using
default keyboard layout. Changing the keyboard type setting does
nothing. Resetting IBus by right clicking the applet icon and
selecting restart restores the setting to saved eten keyboard layout.
After 2 minutes, the keyboard layout goes back to default.
