Same with Ubuntu 11.10 and Banshee. Running a share with forked-daap over LAN, no authentication required. Rhythmbox connects just fine. Banshee sees the share but only gives the Unable to connect to music share message. Same experience on both the current release Banshee version and Banshee 2.3.2
