What about make it to do what startx on windows is doing, it is mixing the functinality of both, i understand that there would by conflict if i'm in the folder where is firefox file and also i have firefox installed, but i recomend to give openvt bigger priority and if someone want to force to use

It is ridiculous that open points to openvt instead of something like xdg-open. I'm going to have to request a concrete example as well. Here we are touting that Ubuntu is a user-friendly Linux distribution and open doesn't even do what most users probably expect. -- You received this bug

I have to bump this again. Personallly, I've been using bash alias open=xdg-open for years. It's EXTREMELY useful and convenient. And I do really want to stress that: even though I generally avoid non-standard aliases for the command line (just so that my habits won't depend too much on a widely
