This issue is also related to the fact that URL are automatically shortened by 
Twitter.  For instance "https://bugs.launchpad.net/gwibber/+bug/672661 Lorem 
ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Donec a diam lectus. Sed sit 
amet ipsum mauris. Maecenas cong" is considered as 140 char for Twitter but 165 
for Gwibber.
It is kind of an obvious behaviour but maybe the solution would be to let 
somebody post a message once it is over 140 char...
