Bug description:
  My laptop's sound card needs a little configuration of the channels volumes 
in alsamixer to provide good sound.
  After a fine tune in alsamixer, the sound is great, but if I change the 
volume in gnome's sound preferences it does not only affect the master volume 
in alsamixer, it also affects the volumes of PCM, Front, Surround, Center, LFE 
and Side channels in an erratic manner (the most of the times it puts all the 
volumes to the max or almost). The master volume moves just fine.
  I hope my explanation is good enough to understand the problem...
