After upgrade  from 11.10 to 12.04 No more internet connection with an old 
laptop Toshiba S 1710 lacking built-in ethernet connector. Network 
The ethernet card is a PCMCIA model==> tried to hot unplug/replug ==> no change 
Tried Lxse, xubuntu, all fail to connect.
If connected through a USB dongle ==> Works fine
