Tainted Redrawing Shortcoming

Bug description:
I do not know how to reproduce the behavior: after I drag&drop
operation I ended up with what you can see in the attached file: there
is a tainted yellowish rectangle at the top of the mail window and is
has a trace down to the bottom left corner. There is another but
weaker trace under it.
I do not know how to reproduce this. The operations I executed are
part of a daily work flow: organizing e-mail. It only happened today
and never before. But there weren't any upgrades, no change to the
installed software whatsoever. I do use my calibrated Apple ICC
profile in Ubuntu but that has not changed.
