history.map file in my profile and deleting it to force thunderbird to
recreate it. Collected address book was non-existent due to the
corrupted file, but I get almost all addresses from ldap, so I didn't
need to export/import them ba

In my case, nothing is greyed out or in the "sending" stage. Restart
doesn't help as well.

I am seeing this problem on my 3 installs of Ubuntu 16.04.2.It was
introduced with upgrade to Thunderbird 52.1.1. It was not present in
Thunderbird 45.8.0 or older
What I am seeing is I write a emails but do not send straight away,
after some time if I try to send the send dialogue stays on
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.
