This keeps happening every two-three times I close then open my laptop's lid. It means I lose my work, running VMs, etc, about 3 times per work week. Thanks Daniel! 1. Done, commented out the line in /etc/apport/crashdb.conf 2. It was already set to enabled=1 3. Done, commented out the line in /etc/gdm3/custom.conf 4. It then starts to load... and asks me for my password AGAIN. Then it shows my desktop, but everything I was doing before is gone, no more open windows. When I start Firefox it asks me whether I want to restore my tabs. When I open Byobu it shows my tabs as I left them. Actually asking for the password twice in "then enter my password. It then starts to load..." might also be another shell/session crash. Sounds like you have two bugs. Asking for the password twice is bug 1765261. But it sounds like you also have a crash causing your lost session so... - Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your bug report is missing crash details. In order to debug a crash we will need a crash report. To create one, please follow these steps: 1. If you are not running a future development release of Ubuntu then apply the workaround from bug 994921. 2.
