A recent discussion on d...@httpd.a.o revealed, that config.guess and
config.sub bundled with httpd src dist is to old for AIX 6.1. It
contains a pattern AIX[45] which prevents correct detection of the
platform. More recent config.guess has AIX[456].

As far as I can see, config.guess and config.sub is in svn for apr (in
the build subdirectory) and gets copied over to apr-util and httpd by
the respective buildconf scripts.

It would be nice if someone could update config.guess and config.sub in
svn for apr in all actively maintained branches. The ones in trunk seem
fine for AIX (Joe updated them in March), but if we update the branches
ow, we could maybe also update trunk to prevent letting the trunk ones
get older than the branch ones.

The AIX change was done in January 2008 but the latest version of the
files is available at

http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/config.git/tree/

The version in
There is another copy of config.guess and config.sub in the expat
directory of apr-util. That one seems to be decoupled from the par one
and the buildconf script there has a comment, that it is necessary to
use a special copy of config.guess/config.sub for expat. So I don't know
how to handle the one bundled with expat, update or not touching?
