+1 I'd go even further and just remove it from the tree. There are no new contributions going into it. The hedwig src for 4.3 is pretty much the same as the hedwig src for 4.2 and for 4.4. If people want the source, therefore, it is available in those releases (and also in the git history).

(I remembered there was a thread that Ivan raised before about Hedwig. I can't find it now. So I raised this as a new thread.) since Hedwig is kind of idle/inactive for a while, it would make sense to move it to a contrib package and no include in future releases any more. What do you think? -
