Cassandra documentation

2014-02-17 Thread Mathieu D'Amours
Hello,

In cassandra's documentation page
http://www.datastax.com/documentation/cassandra/2.0/cassandra/configuration/configCassandra_yaml_r.html,
in the section about start_native_transport, the following is written:

Currently, only the Thrift server is started by default because the native
transport is considered beta. - native proto does start by default, and it's
 not beta

One sentence in quotes says one thing, and the following sentence says the
opposite. I think it's not clear enough which one we should take into account.

Thanks,

Mathieu

Committers: new cassandra-2.1 branch created

2014-02-17 Thread Sylvain Lebresne
We're about to start the vote on 2.1-beta1 and I've created the
cassandra-2.1 branch. Please make sure to commit/merge to cassandra-2.1
before trunk starting now.

Note: for now, I haven't created a cassandra-2.1.0 branch but probably will
in the future when we start having issues that we want in 2.1.1 but are not
comfortable for 2.1.0, but I'll send another email when that happens.

[VOTE] Release Apache Cassandra 2.1.0-beta1

2014-02-17 Thread Sylvain Lebresne
Cassandra 2.1 is coming along but we now need wider testing. So I propose
the
following artifacts for release as 2.1.0-beta1. Let it be clear that it is
only
a beta (and the first one at that), so we know it's not perfect, but the
current goal is first and foremost to get wider testing.

sha1: 73dcdbdf294d5e44f44e7e7eb17655bc40240a61
Git:
http://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf?p=cassandra.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/tags/2.1.0-beta1-tentative
Artifacts:
https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapachecassandra-1006/org/apache/cassandra/apache-cassandra/2.1.0-beta1/
Staging repository:
https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapachecassandra-1006/

The artifacts as well as the debian package are also available here:
http://people.apache.org/~slebresne/

The vote will be open for 72 hours (longer if needed).
