Hi Mark,
feel free to open an issue, with the log, the ACI, so that we will not
forget to fix it.
If it's not a bug (not likely :), no problem : we can close the JIRA
immediatly.
It is done. Sorry for the delay.

Then I need to define the ObjectClass's

So I need something like

Question on the rationale behind using Spring (especially to the veteran
developers):
I know that early versions/predecessors of ApacheDS used other
frameworks (Avalon?). Which frameworks or lightweight containers were
used/considered in the progress before Spring? Is there any

Hi Ole,
as Emmanuel I would recommend to create objectClasses and attributeTypes
for each user defined class.
Do you already have a plan how to store references between objects in
LDAP? There are different strategies.
For example you could use distinguished names to implement references.
Say,

Ersin, Stefan,
when we designed the meta-schema, we didn't defined all the substring
matching rules for each attribute type :

This is something we can add easily.

may be we can add some MatchingRule to those meta attributes.
Seems to me a good idea.

Hi,
I also faced with that situation/error. Current implementation does
not allow substring searches but I think we should allow them. It
would be great for doing core schema operations over the wire.

Hi,
When I had tried to add new schema elements on on the fly using the
new mechanism I had faced a situation when I wanted to add some new

Hi Stefan,
Well let me break down the history behind our container drama :). It
started out a while back in the first days of ldapd over at SF.net in 2002.
I started using Avalon Phoenix back then and had carved out blocks
(components in Avalon terms) for each of the subsystems. This was course

Good point and actually Emmanuel and I discussed this at some point. The
idea was to have an extention to schema to disable validation for a
particular schema entity. So basically we can have a m-disable-checks
attribute in the meta.schema.
Add this to a syntax and set to TRUE and all

Well if you just check the attributeType of the attribute in the m-may
or m-must list you can discern this easily. It's just an additional
lookup and the proper way to go. Use the type of the attribute to
understand what to do with the attribute. This is
