TBH I also think Druid 35 is a better candidate because the jetty 9 is
close to 9 years old and is EOL. We donot want to be in a boat where a CVE
in jetty requires us to upgrade to jetty 12 for a patched release.
Also we want to move to Kafka 4.0 clients sooner rather than later. Kafka 4

Hi Karan, I hope I can answer,
We are working towards having the legal papers signed, as is expected that
Apache Druid PMC and the ASF will require for the code donation.
However, I believe this won’t need coordination with the Apache Druid
release. The intent is to suggest a separate repository
Currently most of the active committers are not focussed on moving this out
of experimental. Having said that, we are always looking for new/existing
folks who can drive this feature out of experimental state and then can
become the maintainer for this area by way of committership/PMC.

Hey Razin
Thanks for working on this.
We are in process of starting the next release train for the druid 34 where
the code freeze will happen in early July. We can delay the code freeze a
bit if we can get this in. Do you think its possible to finish the code
donation by then ?

Sharing as another data point -
We still use YARN to run Hadoop-based batch ingestion. Very useful
on-premise for resource sharing, where autoscaling isn't always an option.
But we plan to move to Kubernetes for ingestion sometime next year.

re Druid 35 - since Hadoop doesn't support java 17 yet, I think that

Actually, I wonder if Druid 35 would be a better time to drop Java 11. It's a
little sooner, but, there are reasons to do this earlier because of Jetty 9
being EOL. It's EOL as of this year. If we need any security fixes they will
only be available in Jetty 12, which requires Java 17. We could t
I'm on board with this. I also think we should deprecate it ASAP, starting in
the next major release. It'd be nice to also build a migration guide that helps
people move from Hadoop ingestion to SQL/MSQ ingestion, and from YARN to K8S
pod runners.

I haven't tried 21.0.7 but IIRC 21.0.6 still had the problem. We should figure
something out here, since I think it's one of the last items stopping us from
fully supporting Java 21.
