Joe and I have pinged their list, no response yet.

Ok, we did receive a response. At the moment Pluto is under the gun to
get the RI for JSR-286 finished, so that is their primary focus. We may
have to do a local build for the snapshot and check it into our repo for

[jira] Updated: (GERONIMODEVTOOLS-252) VM arguments are reverted to default ones after starting the server

Piotr Szczepanik updated GERONIMODEVTOOLS-252:
--

Priority: Minor (was: Critical)

I am sorry,
I have overlooked that option in the server settings. Thanks for help.

On the other hand I keep wondering whether putting this kind of configuration
in the server configuration is the right choice when it comes to usability?
1. Many other servers have it in the Launch configuration and...
2. it is actually a launch setting - not the server's one.

What do you think? But of course it's not a critical issue anymore.

VM arguments are reverted to default ones after starting the server

 Key: GERONIMODEVTOOLS-252

Affects Versions: 2.0.0
Environment: Ubuntu Linux 7.10 (i386), Eclipse 3.3.1, Java
 1.6.0_03-b05
Reporter: Piotr Szczepanik
Priority: Minor
 Attachments: ServerVMArguments.jpg

If you change VM arguments in the Run Dialog for Apache Geronimo (ie.
adding -XX:MaxPermSize=128m which is needed on my platform) they are
reverted back to default value after you successfully the server.
What is worse they are not applied to the server that has just started.
 Steps to reproduce:
 1. Change VM arguments
 2. Start the server
 3. Wait for the start of the server
 4. Check the VM arguments
 5. They are reverted back to default one

The client side of the monitoring tool needs to be pluginized. Specifically,
it should be split into a jetty and tomcat plugin because of the dependency
onto dojo-jetty and dojo-tomcat. Additionally, the datasource itself should
be packaged as a plugin too, so that future users who wish to use a different
database can do so more easily.

The default thread pool provided by Geronimo is configured with the same

Re: Fwd: openejb-2.1 schemalocation

2007-11-27 Thread Hernan Cunico

The idea was to match the targetNamespace from the schema with an actual,
working URL. I was able to match only those schemas for which the
targetNamespace is on the http://geronimo.apache.org server.

I think it was Jarek who helped gathering all the schemas from svn into one
place. Then I took one by one and created the same structure from the
targetNamespace on the actual web site and moved the files around. Lastly I
added an symbolic link to each file to match the file name, once again as
defined in the targetNamespace.

Didn't do OpenEJB because those are hosted at http://www.openejb.org

Is this the kind of info you were looking for?

Cheers!

Probably not that long. Reported as

[jira] Created: (GERONIMODEVTOOLS-254) Spaces in server pathname causes problems for the Eclipse Plugin

2007-11-27 Thread Tim McConnell (JIRA)
Spaces in server pathname causes problems for the Eclipse Plugin

 Key: GERONIMODEVTOOLS-254
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GERONIMODEVTOOLS-254
 Project: Geronimo-Devtools
  Issue Type: Bug
Affects Versions: 2.0.0
 Environment: Windows
Reporter: Tim McConnell
Assignee: Tim McConnell
 Fix For: 2.0.2

When there are spaces in the Geronimo server pathname (on Windows), the Eclipse
Plugin will have problems deploying and EAR File. For example the following
error will occur:

Distribution of configuration failed. See log for details.
Error unmarshaling return; nested exception is:
java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol:
Files/IBM/WebSphere/AppServerCommunityEdition/repository/org/apache/geronimo/modules/geronimo-common/2.0.1/geronimo-common-2.0.1.jar

TCK results look good and I haven't heard of any issues. So, it seems

Anybody have pending changes? Any objections to start working on a release?

NOTICE files yet again

2007-11-27 Thread David Jencks
I talked with Kevan and Dan Kulp a bit at apachecon about license and
notice files and am still pretty confused. However I don't think
what we are doing now is sustainable.

First of all as I've said many times before I think that we should be
using the remote-resources plugin to install the LICENSE and NOTICE
files in all the module and config artifacts. IIUC Dan has recently
updated the template and the generated NOTICE files are a lot more
readable.

Bear in mind I'm about to implement GERONIMO-3607, push-button server
assembly inclluding arbitrary plugins (such as user apps):
Second, the overall NOTICE file is now hardcoded in the boilerplate
plugin. I don't think this is appropriate any longer, since it will
appear in any server assembled to include that plugin whereas it will
only really apply to the ones we happen to distribute. I think a
NOTICE file that says something like this might possibly apply to
the server you are looking at, but there's not really any way to tell
without looking at all the configs installed in the repos is not a
good idea, but anything we distribute would have to say that IMO.

I can think of at least two possible solutions:
1. adapt the remote-resources-plugin so our server assembly (G-3607)
uses it to generate a NOTICE file from everything included in the
server.
2. include less-verbose xxx-NOTICE files in our plugins that need
(such as e.g. for xmlbeans) and use the copy-file element to extract
them into a common directory in the server when they are installed
(e.g. META-INF/NOTICES/)

Any thoughts? Am I making up a problem where none exists?

thanks
david jencks

Would anyone object if I modified it to use the maven-remote-

[jira] Commented: (GERONIMODEVTOOLS-252) VM arguments are reverted to default ones after starting the server

2007-11-27 Thread Kan Ogawa (JIRA)

[

 ]

Kan Ogawa commented on GERONIMODEVTOOLS-252:

Hi Piotr,

Many application launcher configurations besides J2EE server may be put in
Eclipse platform.
So I think that it is very convenient there is the VM Arguments field for
Geronimo server in its overview page.

Anyhow, this issue is not bug. it should be closed.
If you want to discuss about this topic furthermore, I recommend that you use
geronimo-user mailing list.

Thanks,
Kan Ogawa

VM arguments are reverted to default ones after starting the server
 ---

 Key: GERONIMODEVTOOLS-252
 URL:
 https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GERONIMODEVTOOLS-252
 Project: Geronimo-Devtools
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: eclipse-plugin
Affects Versions: 2.0.0
Environment: Ubuntu Linux 7.10 (i386), Eclipse 3.3.1, Java
 1.6.0_03-b05
Reporter: Piotr Szczepanik
Priority: Minor
 Attachments: ServerVMArguments.jpg

If you change VM arguments in the Run Dialog for Apache Geronimo (ie.
adding -XX:MaxPermSize=128m which is needed on my platform) they are
reverted back to default value after you successfully the server.
What is worse they are not applied to the server that has just started.
 Steps to reproduce:
 1. Change VM arguments
 2. Start the server
 3. Wait for the start of the server
 4. Check the VM arguments
 5. They are reverted back to default one

Affects Versions: 1.x
Reporter: Sangjin Lee

Currently AsyncHttpClient uses Chartset.defaultCharset() when it encodes the
query string. However, applications may want to use a different encoding than
the machine default charset; e.g. UTF-8. It needs to provide a way to specify
an encoding that AHC should use to encode the query string.
