Yes reloginFromKeytab is intended for token renewal purposes. If the question is about the token needed to talk to the Namenode, as long as you are using Hadoop RPC you will not need to reloginFromKeytab(). You can refer to the following discussion thread for more details on this

Oh... porting to win can be a very big deal, too many things to be considered: * hdfs run on win and native library * hawq code port * user authenticate * script and misc tool port * etc. So maybe it's very difficult to complete by interest. Do you have some details of it?
