[~reschke], what you quoted applies to system view export. IIUC, this report is
about document view export. I think '7.3 Document View' list item 10 applies:
bq. If P is a non-BINARY property its value is converted to string form
according to the standard conversion (see §3.6.4 Property Type Conversion).
Entity references are used to escape characters which cannot be included as

[ANNOUNCE] Apache Jackrabbit Oak 1.44.0 released

2022-07-17 Thread Marcel Reutegger
The Apache Jackrabbit community is pleased to announce the release of
Apache Jackrabbit Oak 1.44.0. The release is available for download at:

 http://jackrabbit.apache.org/downloads.html

See the full release notes below for details about this release:

Release Notes -- Apache Jackrabbit Oak -- Version 1.44.0

Introduction

Jackrabbit Oak is a scalable, high-performance hierarchical content
repository designed for use as the foundation of modern world-class
web sites and other demanding content applications.

Apache Jackrabbit Oak 1.44.0 is an incremental feature release based
on and compatible with earlier stable Jackrabbit Oak 1.x
releases. This release is considered stable and targeted for
production use.

While Oak 1.44.0 compiles and tests successfully on Java 17, Javadocs
generation fails on Java 17 (but works as expected on Java 8).

The Oak effort is a part of the Apache Jackrabbit project.
Apache Jackrabbit is a project of the Apache Software Foundation.

Re: Permission to start Project Cumulus as a Jackrabbit sub-module

2021-10-14 Thread Marcel Reutegger
Hi Andrei

Sounds like an interesting idea. My suggestion would be to start with as low
overhead as possible. The Jackrabbit project has a sandbox in svn:

https://svn.apache.org/viewvc/jackrabbit/sandbox/

Would this work for you as a location to start? Alternatively, we could also
request a Jackrabbit sandbox repository on gitbox/GitHub.

What do others think?

[ANNOUNCE] Apache Jackrabbit Oak 1.22.7 released

2021-04-13 Thread Marcel Reutegger
The Apache Jackrabbit community is pleased to announce the release of
Apache Jackrabbit Oak 1.22.7. The release is available for download at:

 http://jackrabbit.apache.org/downloads.html

See the full release notes below for details about this release:

Release Notes -- Apache Jackrabbit Oak -- Version 1.22.7

Introduction

Jackrabbit Oak is a scalable, high-performance hierarchical content
repository designed for use as the foundation of modern world-class
web sites and other demanding content applications.

Jackrabbit Oak 1.22.7 is a patch release that contains fixes and
improvements over Oak 1.22. Jackrabbit Oak 1.22.x releases are
considered stable and targeted for production use.

The Oak effort is a part of the Apache Jackrabbit project.
Apache Jackrabbit is a project of the Apache Software Foundation.

Changes in Oak 1.22.7
-

Bug

[OAK-8582] - Failing test in MongoDB 4.2.0:
BasicDocumentStoreTest.testLongId
[OAK-9176] - sweep upgrade of pre 1.8 branch commits not always
sets "_bc" for parents/root
[OAK-9306] - Faceting: IllegalArgumentException: dimension ... was
not indexed
[OAK-9358] - DocumentNodeStore may accumulate split candidates

Improvement

[OAK-9134] - Remove mix:referenceable from nt:frozenNode definition
[OAK-9290] - Respect nt:frozenNode definition on upgrade and migration
[OAK-9291] - Refactor check for referenceable nt:frozenNode definition
[OAK-9352] - move SystemPropertySupplier from document to commons
[OAK-9357] - Update to MongoDB Java driver 3.12
[OAK-9359] - Use SystemPropertySupplier to ease backport

This release contains a fix for OAK-9176, which performs a one time repository
scan to fix missing _bc (branch commit) entries. This only affects repositories
running on DocumentNodeStore (MongoDB and RDB). Use the system property
-Doak.documentMK.disableSweep2=true to disable this scan in case it should be
skipped explicitly.

In addition to the above-mentioned changes, this release contains
all changes included up to the previous Apache Jackrabbit Oak 1.22.x release.

For more detailed information about all the changes in this and other
Oak releases, please see the Oak issue tracker at

  https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OAK

There are, but it did not have priority so far. As you mentioned,
OAK-8582 was an attempt to support 4.2 but has not been resolved
yet.

The documentation is actually correct and 1.10.x or newer support
MongoDB 4.0.x.

onto a different option within the next few weeks.

There are several alternatives available, including those listed on this page

migrating a website from the CMS, and is looking forward to helping projects
with this transition.

Please let me know whether your site is still on the Apache CMS and, if so, who

I don't remember why we have the list in the pom.xml. Maybe we built a site
at some point that generated a list of committers by pulling the information
from the pom.xml.

Re: [DISCUSS] Oak 1.10 is retired, what does this mean for Jackrabbit 2.18?

2020-04-07 Thread Marcel Reutegger
Hi,

Sounds good to me. +1

Regards
 Marcel

On 06.04.20, 11:07, "Julian Reschke" wrote:

Hi there,

so we just retired Oak's 1.10 branch, which has been replaced by Oak
1.22. Oak 1.22 uses Jackrabbit 2.20; Oak 1.10 was using Jackrabbit 2.18.
No other Oak branch needs Jackrabbit 2.18.

AFAIR, the main differences between 2.18 and 2.20 are:

- removal of jackrabbit-api (now in Oak)
- refactoring of jackrabbit-standalone (new artifact
jackrabbit-standalone-components)
- Remove all usage of java.security.acl.Group for Java 14 (JCR-4467),
causing one incompatible change in jcr-rmi's exported packages

So the switch from 2.18 to 2.20 *might* cause the need to re-compile and
adjust POMs.

As we did not plan to retire 2.18 yet, my proposal is to update the
roadmap (),
and to plan for one final release later this year, then retire the
branch after that release.

Feedback appreciated.

Best regards, Julian

List moderators

2020-03-30 Thread Marcel Reutegger
Hi,

Recently some messages to apache mailing lists were not moderated
in time because moderation messages went into my spam folder. I'm
a moderator for all Jackrabbit related lists, but noticed the other
moderators are not actively involved anymore in Jackrabbit. That is,
it looks like I'm currently the only active moderator for all lists.

I'd like to update our moderators and at the same time ensure we
have some good coverage across timezones. Any volunteers?

 Marcel

[jira] [Created] (JCR-4533) Remove references to www.apache.org/dist

2020-03-04 Thread Marcel Reutegger (Jira)
Marcel Reutegger created JCR-4533:
-

 Summary: Remove references to www.apache.org/dist
 Key: JCR-4533
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JCR-4533
 Project: Jackrabbit Content Repository
  Issue Type: Task
  Components: jackrabbit-site
Reporter: Marcel Reutegger

Links to downloads, signatures, etc. should be changed to
https://downloads.apache.org/

According to Infra www.apache.org/dist/ is deprecated.

{quote}
Hello, Apache PMCs,

In order to better provide our millions of users with downloads, the
Apache Infrastructure Team has been restructuring the way downloads work
for our main distribution channels in the past few weeks. For users,
this will largely go unnoticed, and for projects likely the same, but we
did want to reach out to projects and inform them of the changes we've
made:

As of March 2020, we are deprecating www.apache.org/dist/ in favor of
https://downloads.apache.org/ for backup downloads as well as signature
and checksum verification. The primary driver has been splitting up web
site visits and downloads to gain better control and offer a better
service for both downloads and web site visits.

As stated, this does not impact end-users, and should have a minimal
impact on projects, as our download selectors as well as visits to
www.apache.org/dist/ have been adjusted to make use of
downloads.apache.org instead. We do however ask that projects, in their
own time-frame, change references on their own web sites from
www.apache.org/dist/ to downloads.apache.org wherever such references
may exist, to complete the switch in full. We will NOT be turning off
www.apache.org/dist/ in the near future, but would greatly appreciate if
projects could help us transition away from the old URLs in their
documentation and on their download pages.

The standard way of uploading releases[1] will STILL apply, however
there may be a short delay (<= 15 minutes) between releasing and
releases showing up on downloads.apache.org for technical reasons.

If you have any questions about this change, please do not hesitate
to reach out to us at us...@infra.apache.org.

With regards,
Daniel on behalf of ASF Infrastructure.

The job was still pointing to SVN over HTTP instead of HTTPS. It looks
like that was breaking the build. I changed it and triggered a new
build. At least the job is running again now.

This arrived here with a broken URI (content-encoding base64, strange),
containing trailing non-ASCII characters. I guess Outlook is to blame.

Anyway.

Looks good to me.

One thing:

"All maintenance branches and the unstable development branch are
continuously seeing moderate to high activity."

For Oak, we the development branch now is considered stable. Do we need
to tune this statement for that?

Best regards, Julian

Re: CI environment

2019-08-20 Thread Marcel Reutegger
Hi Konrad,

The jobs have been created manually and they do not use a Jenkinsfile.
But I agree, it would be good to change that.

I just added you to the hudson-jobadmin group. You should now be able
to create jobs on Jenkins.

 Marcel

Hi,
Instead of configuring it manually I would prefer using Jenkinsfiles for
it. Do you have any good example at hand or are all other Jackrabbit Jenkins
Jobs manually configured?
Usually one uses a Shared Library for setting the jobs up (e.g. compare
with https://github.com/apache/sling-tooling-jenkins)
Also who is currently Jenkins admin
(https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/INFRA/Jenkins#Jenkins-HowdoIgetanaccount)?

Can you grant me the according rights or set up Jobs for
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/jackrabbit/commons/filevault/ and
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/jackrabbit/commons/filevault-package-maven-plugin/?
Both should be built with Java 7, 8, and 11 both on Windows and Linux.
Thanks in advance,
Konrad

I'd say use the Apache infrastructure if possible, but if travis better fits
your requirements, then it's fine as well.

 it
seems wise nowadays to primarily rely on Travis to also enable builds
on PRs.
   WDYT?

On the ASF Jenkins I could not find too many CI jobs either (some
related to Oak,
   https://builds.apache.org/view/AllJobs/).

I would like to set up Jobs for Jackrabbit Filevault and Jackrabbit
Filevault Maven Plugin. The latter requires also a Windows build job (we faced
several Windows only issues in the past).
Also it would be nice to have a dedicated view in Jenkins for Apache
Jackrabbit which contains all Jobs for Oak, Jackrabbit and Filevault.
Is there any reference documentation around the set up of CI jobs at
Jackrabbit?
Also I could not find any Jenkinsfile anywhere so I guess the Jenkins
Jobs are currently maintained manually?
Or should I instead rather use Travis?

   Thanks for your input.
