Hello All,
I found 3 reason why its not working.
1. Permission issues on HDFS level.
2. For kylin up-gradation if you overwrite old property file than it will
give "kylin.env.hdfs-working-dir" error.
3. JAVA VERSION you need to have 1.7 or above java version.
I hope it may help you.
Thanks
I also encountered similar problem today. After some investigation, I found
there were multiple versions of Kylin jars in the "KYLIN_HOME/lib" and
"KYLIN_HOME/tool"
folder. Removing the old jars solved the problem. Just take a try.

Hi All,
I have installed hadoop cluster with CDH - 5.9 and I am running
apache-kylin-2.1.0-bin-cdh57.
While using bin/check-env.sh or kylin.sh start command its giving as,
Retrieving hadoop conf dir...
KYLIN_HOME is set to /opt/apache-kylin-2.1.0-bin-cdh57
Please set kylin.env.hdfs-working-dir
