In general, I'm +1. I think we may want to be careful in the cases where
too many objects would be created, like when iterating docs/values, etc.
That specific case you link to would be a good candidate in my mind.

I understand the frustration with the delay and the number of respins, and
I don't want to be disrespectful of Jim's time as RC, but from what I can
see, SOLR-13285 would prevent anyone with enum fields to use Solr 8.0, and
the fix is already available.

I think the UI is an important Solr feature. As long as there is a
reasonable time horizon for the issue being resolved I'm +1 on making it a
blocker. I'm not familiar enough with the UI code to help either

Thanks Jeremy,
Yes, you should create a Jira. Then you can create the PR (and include the
Jira code in the title of the PR, this will link them). Also, I’d suggest
you create different JIRAs for each individual change. Small changes are
easier and more likely to be reviewed/ merged.

My understanding is that the integration is not bidirectional (i.e. we
can't use the "merge PR" green button in GitHub and make that a commit in
the official repo). You can build PRs if you want, and then you can either
turn that into a patch or cherry pick into the offical repo, but that's

Hi Jim,
I'd like to commit SOLR-12766 to 7.5. SOLR-11881 added retries for internal
requests, but the backoff time in cases with multiple updates can become
big, and cause clients to timeout. The change is minimal, just backoff once
for a retry batch instead of for every doc.

I think we should deprecate it. There were some concerns about this because
new users would understand quickly what "replicationFactor" is, while
"nrtReplicas" is not so intuitive, but I don't like having two ways to do
the same, and now that there are multiple types of replicas I think it's

Yes, I've seen these issues too. The right thing to do is to close all

swallowed unintentionally because of the catch (Exception ). I suspect for

I'd like to include SOLR-10237, Poly-fields can provide incorrect results

Two minor things I caught (not for respin), some of the examples in LTR for
some reason are very narrow (pages 355 to 365).
We still talk about DismaxRequestHandler in "Overview of Searching in

I think that's what everyone is saying here, legacy numeric types will be

Thanks for taking time for looking at these options Casandra. I specially
agree with the third of the painful points you mentioned, the fact that we

Not a blocker, but looks like many times images are broken into 2 pages
(happens for example for many of the admin UI screenshot, but also with
smaller images like in the Spatial Filers section). Is there a way to

Also, we should try to prevent pasting extremely
