All instances appear active. The list of servers in the cloud tab is all-green
and nothing appears to be missing.
And were not using a smart client for querying. So you are right - it will
happily respond to queries :-(

instances as active?
Also, how are you querying the nodes?

client like the solrj CloudSolrServer, and you directly query the node

I you have too much trouble with session timeouts with ZooKeeper, you
may need to raise the client timeout from 15 seconds to something
higher.
