For 0.12.1, the 2 issues below along with a Jira to polish the scaladocs for Flink backend that pretty much don't exist now. Also the Scaladocs for 0.12.1 to be published with the release, that should suffice as scope for 0.12.1. I agree Flink shell should be differed to 0.13.0 as its not stable

Khurrum, mahout is so much a library at this point. if you mean if it can be used to build networks with 2d inputs, yes i did some of that. multi-epoch SGD based systems should be easy enough to build, and will probably have a reasonable performance -- although I think dedicated CNN systems
