As for building, I am all for it.
For running (so the bytecode level of built Maven artifacts) may be "too

Howdy,
In maven 3 the only way to do this is using Resolver API directly (your 3.

If one would choose the version layout "that happens" to be like you
describe, that would be really unfortunate.
The "timestamped snapshot version" was introduced in (very late) Maven2

you did not specify what is what you exactly look for but in general:
definitely avoid maven-compat (maven2 support).
Your best bet is to:

Howdy,
Some (historical) clarification here:
The sisu-build-api has existed since 2009, but was _abandoned_ since by its
initial author as being "incomplete".
Also, that repo has been _archived_ since the 2010-ish year, also many
years ago (I think it was longer archived than not).
Not long ago,
Howdy Mathias,
well, first to clear up: maven-resolver does NOT support operations like
"resolve me this artifact HERE". The "local repository" is coupled with it,
and resolution of artifacts always happens from remote to local repository,

Howdy,
just one remark: as I said, Maven so far never had a "surface" meant to be
an API, on the other hand Maven tries its best to "signal" internal areas.
In this very example

Howdy,
The 1.9.0 release is near being complete:

If anyone has anything to add, please let me know.

I already thought about this, and probably shared some thoughts (that may

Maven core and ecosystem uses SLF4J API. Full stop.
Just use SLF4J API, and you will get a pre-configured back-end as well.
Done.

Yup, am still on vacation so briefly...
Jira issues should more or less be up to date, with fixFor set to 6.0.
Martin was great help with fixing indexer issues and de-plexusizing it as
well.

Hi there,
Index already contains the SHA1 sums of _indexed_ artifacts (if available).
It all depends only on how up-to-date index is (is just released artifacts
might not be on index yet...)

Yup, checksum validation != content validation, the latter may become
tricky...

[VOTE] Release Maven Indexer 6.0.0
Hi,
We solved 25 issues:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/ReleaseNote.jspa?projectId=12317523&version=12330802
There are still a couple of issues left in JIRA:

@Brian @Olivier
Release 6.0.0 is perfectly compatible backwards, so no need to publish with
6.0.0 to consume it with 6.0.0. The changed creators (like OSGi) were
anyway unused on central AFAIK, central publishes with "min" set of
publishers.

The Apache Maven team is pleased to announce the release of the Apache
Maven Indexer, version 6.0.0
Apache Maven Indexer (former Sonatype Nexus Indexer) is the defacto
standard for producing indexes of Maven repositories. The Indexes are
produced and consumed by all major tools in the ecosystem.
Hi,
The vote has passed with the following result:
+1 : Olivier, Herve, Robert, Manfred, Eric and Andreas
PMC quorum: Olivier, Herve, Robert
I will promote the artifacts to the central repo.
Thanks,

Hi there,
you are, but without this
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MINDEXER-81
you will get hardly any progress (without getting very "dirty" wrt code and
incompatible).
