Re: ICLA?
Yup. It came up in early release votes. This is software that was published already under Apache 2.0 by DMLC before coming to the ASF. There are hundreds of contributors and no one copyright owner who could sign a software (license) grant. All ASF committers signed ICLAs. The request (going by memory) was to try and get folk to sign ICLAs or software (license) grant. It's one of those "you do a some diligence, and draw a line as to the right place to stop doing diligence because otherwise you would be diligencing forever" situations. Hi, Sorry if I'm mistaken (possible as I've not followed your project closely) but to me this sounds like more part of the initial IP Clearance process. Podlings can't make a release until that has been completed. [1] Thanks, Justin P.S please CC on any replies as I'm not subscribed to this list. 1. https://incubator.apache.org/guides/ip_clearance.html#establishing_provenance
Re: ICLA?
Yes. This was a back and forth last September or so. The Incubator PMC ask was that we seek to get agreements from heavy contributors. It's a hard one to say exactly what heavy is, thus I listed by number of contributions and my list below is an eye ball for where the center of mass is committer-wise. Interesting, but how about the current process, as far as I understand anybody can contributing to apache repo without signing CLA, only comitters are required to do so Tianqi On Thu, Jun 7, 2018 at 10:44 AM, Hen wrote: > Authoring matters, not merging. > > If we're able to get license grants/ICLAs signed by the following GitHub > users, that would be great: > > sneakerkg > kevinthesun > hjk41 > mavenlin > tornadomeet > winstywang > qiaohaijun > vchuravy > Roshrini > howard0su > sbodenstein > ptrendx > > And they may now be committers and signed ICLA, just hadn't back in > September 2017. > > Hen > > > On Wed, Jun 6, 2018 at 10:14 PM, Tianqi Chen > wrote: > > > Maybe I was wrong, The existing code in the DMLC repo is merged by > original > > committers(who are now Apache MXNet comitters and signed CLA). Re: ICLA?
Authoring matters, not merging. If we're able to get license grants/ICLAs signed by the following GitHub users, that would be great: sneakerkg kevinthesun hjk41 mavenlin tornadomeet winstywang qiaohaijun vchuravy Roshrini howard0su sbodenstein ptrendx And they may now be committers and signed ICLA, just hadn't back in September 2017. Re: ICLA?
Maybe I was wrong, The existing code in the DMLC repo is merged by original committers(who are now Apache MXNet comitters and signed CLA). So I assume there is no such problem. Re: ICLA?
This list was former contributors to DMLC who did not become Apache committers. Ideally some chunk of the larger contributors would sign ICLAs or software (license) grants. Thanks a lot Isabel! Considering ICLAs are automatically managed by the secretary of Apache before anybody can become a committer and no CLA is required for non-committers, I'd say that we can delete that wiki page. Re: ICLA?
Henry, was this document only related to the migration towards Apache or do we have to keep it up to date? I've heard that sometimes every contributor has to sign it before a PR can be accepted. I have seen other communities that use a bot to keep track of signed ICLA documents, but I don't know if we have to follow that. We know that Nvidia emoloyees, for example, are not allowed to sign these documents. -Marco Steffen Rochel schrieb am Di., 5. Hello, is the page at https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/MXNET/ICLA+Progress a leftover from the migration to Apache or is this document still valid? Best regards, Marco
