OFBiz Demo not usable

Translating simple-method codes to Groovy

CommonPermissionServices.xml. Is there an equivalent for simple-method-calls which I can use in Groovy or do I have to use a service-call, and if the latter, is there some things I have to know when changing from a simple-method-call to a service-call?
