For those interested, here is a follow-up to testing for the DITA
converter for Confluence:
INSTALLATION
Because I'm not a Confluence administrator on my company's instance of
the wiki, I ended up installing Confluence on a web server (XAMPP)
running locally on my computer. From there I could log in as an admin
and install the addons conf2dita and ditamacro with no problem. Three
commands were added to the Confluence Tools menu: Export to DITA XML,
Import to DITA XML, and View DITA Map.
DITA FILE PREPARATION
When you Import to DITA XML you upload the DITA files as a single ZIP
file. I used the DITA Packager Utility for Windows from Suite Solutions.
It zips up all the files referenced in a ditamap
(http://suite-sol.com/Downloads/dita-packager-utility/)
FILE IMPORT
I first imported the DITA sample files that are available from the
conf2dita wiki page. This import was successful; topics came across as
individual pages in an existing space. I was also able to import my own
DITA files/as long as they did not have any nested maps/.
The imported DITA files are marked up with icons and change bars
(vertical lines in left margin) (see attached image).
FILE EXPORT
My exported files were valid DITA but they did not have the same
filenames they used during the import, at least not consistently.
That's all I have so far. If anyone can offer more information about
this addon, I'd appreciate it.
