Hi [~pfm.smits],

I am just thinking of making the PDFs more readable. Giving some proper spacing
between the cells, providing proper borders for the cells and rows etc. will
make them a lot more readable than what they are now.

Thanks [~soledad] for your proposals. They seems good to me.
In this task we can definitely try going for no.1 i.e. Defining a generic
decorator for xsl-fo page. I will go ahead and try to prepare a decorator and
share it here so that you guys can review it.

For proposal no.2 i.e. Configuring document for each party and using
partyContent model to render PDFs, we can do this work in separate task as it
will require much more analysis and efforts.

> We need to have a properly structured PDF documents which is easy to read.

Thanks [~Florian M] for reviewing the changes.

In "replacement of custRequestId", I mean, custRequestId is already available
in parameters map which was being replaced by this line of code.

custRequestId is used in scrumForms.xml#NewTaskForSprintBacklog for preparing
list of backlog tasks. Here we were getting null value because of
above-mentioned replacement of parameter value and it was the cause of
exception on the console.

During exploration, I also found the problem in framework level code for
handling of the in inherited form. I am going to start the
discussion on it on the developer list very soon!

Hi Deepak,

the organizationPartyId can be set in the header of every theme and is
programmed in the application decorator, i think in the commonext component.

This is the current default accounting organization partyId and used in
from/to fields of invoice/order etc.

Regards,
Hans.

PS
for you and others: please next time also copy to my personal address
also, because these days i do not read all messages in the mailinglist.

Commits and especially backports suggest best practice

2016-06-09 Thread Jacques Le Roux

Hi,

I understand that every committer is free to commit and backport or not, but
I'd like to propose a best practice.
When you backport something, if you know that it should not be backported in older releases, please pass the information. It makes reviewers task much
easier.
I put a note at
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBADMIN/OFBiz+Committers+Roles+and+Responsibilities#OFBizCommittersRolesandResponsibilities-Howshouldcommittershandlebackporting?

Thanks

Jacques

Java default options in ant targets

2016-06-09 Thread Jacques Le Roux

Hi,

I was reading "Java Concurrency in Practice" (again!) when I (again!) stumbled
upon the 6th footnote p. 38 (my edition is from 2011)

You can find a summary at
https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/123207-java-concurrency-in-practice :

“Debugging tip: For server applications, be sure to always specify the
-server JVM command line switch when invoking the JVM, even for
development and testing. The server JVM performs more optimization than
the client JVM, such as hoisting variables out of a loop that are not
modified in the loop; code that might appear to work in the development
environment (client JVM) can break in the deployment environment (server
 JVM)...(more explanation and examples)”

Since this book was written in 2006 for Java 5, I checked what the situation is
with Java 8
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/hotspotfaq-138619.html#compiler_types
http://blog.sokolenko.me/2014/11/javavm-options-production.html#make-server-a-server

Oracle says

“Since Java SE 5.0, with the exception of 32-bit Windows, the server VM will automatically be selected on server-class machines. The definition of a
server-class machine may change from release to release, so please check the appropriate ergonomics document for the definition for your release. For
5.0, it'sErgonomics in the 5.0 Java[tm] Virtual Machine .”

Hence Sokolenko's comment:

“Though this option is implicitely enabled for x64 virtual machines, it
still makes sense to use it as according to documentation behaviour
maybe changed in the future.”

So this is still true and I wonder if we should not add this option (and some others, see
Sokolenko's link above) in some ant targets like "start"

Opinions?

Jacques

My proposal come from my experience on customer project. I realize this

The layout of all the PDF documents in OFBiz like Order, Invoice,

Picklist, Shipment etc. does not look very good and is not very readable
for end users. We need to have a properly structured PDF documents which is
easy to read.

I am going to create sub-tasks of this parent task for all the

different objects.

Thanks a lot Ankit!

We can forget about Alternative Demo Servers, we don't use any now. I will
review ASAP and will get back to you.

BTW I wrote
bq. 1st find what the old shortcuts were and then replace them with new
shortcuts, *or even better real links*. We got bitten once by shortcuts, it's
enough...

I believe we should better use real links than shorcuts. They are a 1st glance
less convenient because they are longer, but if, for a reason, the Confluence
server change, then we know the shortcuts no longer work. It's then much easier
to look for the pages using the pages title words which are used in links to
pages if the titles don't contains special characters (else you have a number
in the link and this is to avoid)

Anyway thanks again, I'll handle it...

Hi [~ofbizzer],

I tried to regenerate the problem on
[ofbiz-trunk|https://ofbiz-vm.apache.org:8443] and found out that at both the
place quantity field comes in the sorted order by ship group. So it means that
this problem got fixed. So please let us know that you are still facing this
problem or we are good to close it ?

Entity 'ProductPriceCond' holds the correct value for this condition being
added, it's a just problem on UI.

On browser console, all the options are showing selected which contains
substring "CUSTOMER" as value and the last one selected option which is
'SHIP_TO_CUSTOMER' get shown. View the screenshot for this occurrence.

This is one place where I observed the issue but exist at all the places for
lookup for any anything. So need to correct it at all the places. Possibly
needs a correction at the framework level.

Steps to regenerate the issue:
1. Go to order manager.
2. Go to sub-menu "Quotes"
3. Click on look-up button of partyId in the form
4. In a pop-up screen of "Lookup party by name" click on find button.

Actual:
1. In the header section of data table "Display 1-50 of x" is missing.
(Please refer screenshot for more detail)

Expected :
1. "Display 1-50 of x" should be shown there.

Reporter: Rishi Solanki

I have discusses this in past on mailing list, that Utility, helper, worker
classes which contains only static methods should not be instantiable. Also we
can restrict it by adding a private constructor.

Currently OFBiz has many such classes which should have private constructor.
Identify all the *Worker.java, *.Helper.java, and *Util.java which do not have
any non static method/member are eligible for having a private constructor.

Thank you [~pritam.kute] !
I just tried it on the trunk and it's working like a charm. As well for the
creation, the update and the deletion of a task.

What do you mean by the "replacement of custRequestId" ? Is that parameter not
used anymore ?
I see that there is a check to ignore it if empty just after the removed line.
Is that condition still ok ?

Pritam Kute commented on OFBIZ-7252:

I have looked into the code and found that first issue reported regarding
console error was due to the replacement of custRequestId in parameters.

Again I observed that the TaskForms.xml#EditSprintTask form is inherited in two
different forms, one is scrumForms.xml#NewTaskForSprintBacklog and other is
scrumForms.xml#NewTaskForUnplanBacklog.

Request 'updateSprintTask' which is there in TaskForms.xml#EditSprintTask is
responsible for updating existing task, so it is of no use as we are creating a
new task for the sprint. So deleted the 'alt-target' from
TaskForms.xml#EditSprintTask.

Tested all the functionality and found working fine.

Jacques Le Roux commented on OFBIZ-7267:

Agreed, I checked it's simple enough :)

> I wonder if I'll create a subtask for each component or will do all in one
> shoot, after all it's a straightforward action, just move them, damn! (the
> 1761 references are easily done with regexp S/R)

> There are several problems in the form to add a new task in a backlog. Step
> to reproduce :
> - Go to the Scrum component and select a product sprint
> (https://localhost:8443/scrum/control/ViewSprint?sprintId=DEMO-SPRINT-1=DEMO-PROJECT-1)
> - Scroll down to the Sprint Backlog List
> - Click on a button "Add Task"
> - See the error in the console.
> From there, it's not possible to create a new task. When clicking on the
> create button, there is an error and the target is
> "https://localhost:8443/scrum/control/updateSprintTask; where it should be
> "https://localhost:8443/scrum/control/createSprintBacklogTask;.
> I tried to solve the problem but it's beyond me. The form causing the problem
> is scrumForms.xml#NewTaskForSprintBacklog and it extends the form
> TaskForms.xml#EditSprintTask .
> Thanks,
> Florian
