Eclipse, Visual Studio, and NetBeans have default build in git support.
If you prefer a standalone application you can check tortoisegit which is the
git sister app to the svn version.

Inside Cygwin, just use git to clone openoffice. Then do "git checkout
AOO42X" to switch to branch 42X.
As I am doing my "development" on Ubuntu I can not really give a
recommendation for a Windows Git.

I am using Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit. I have cygwin 64 bit installed, and
would prefer to stick to 64 bit software - it is many years since I've
had a 32 bit desktop or laptop.
What Git software is recommended and what should I clone for working
with AOO 4.2 branch?
