Here is a proposal that I'm submitting for lazy consensus. ...
At least, we will need a simple banner (an X-banner or a roll-up banner)
and a few hundreds (500-1000) of the English flyers prepared by Drew. I
can take care of ordering and delivering to FOSDEM. ...
A budget of 150 EUR will cover the expenses.

So I'll assume we have (very!) lazy consensus and move on, otherwise
there won't be time to get everything ready in time for FOSDEM. I've
read on this list that Oliver, who already took care of managing the
conference fund, is unavailable this week. So I'll just pay for the
roll-up and printed leaflets myself and then investigate, with no hurry,
how the expense can be reimbursed.

Coming back to this... in the end I spent 145 EUR for roll-up and
leaflets. Michael and Mechtilde kept the roll-up and leaflets since they
will be using them in other occasions too (actually, maybe they have
already used it in the meantime). I will ask for reimbursement of these
promotional materials from the OpenOffice conference funds through Oliver.

Note that, while we had considered to give some financial support to
speakers/volunteers, in the end everybody came on their own expenses and
the project didn't reimburse travel/hotel to anybody. So, except for the
minimal merchandising expenses above, our conference funds are still
untouched.

No, it's just that trunk was broken since Friday.

No, Developer Snapshots are built weekly, last one is based on revision
1479864/ rev. 1479897 (this last one is the revision from the snapshot
 tag).

If so, fine but would help to know that as it does impact testing of
patches for those of us not rolling our own builds.

Or is it just an unfortunate confluence of events between the build
bots and the hand posted work for our outstanding AOO developers?

In any case the BuildBot site is a mess

I've been focused on other things and have not had time to watch over

This is a bug (at least on the Linux builds), thanks for reporting it
(CentOS subversion is 1.6 and I checked the snapshot with 1.7 on other
 system, so svn info fails).
Linux64 had a bug that got fixed, and it is now building.
The Windows bots all had hung processes (building apr) with I've cleaned
 up. and are building now.
Linux32 bots are waiting on infra to recreate the linux32 - we've asked
them to create a CentOS 5 32bit bot (say that 5 times fast) Once we have
that, we should be able to produce the correct set of bits for linux
 platform.
As this is non-standard, it is waiting in the infra JIRA queue.
We are also waiting on Mac and FBSD bots. (before the cry is raised to
loud, let's please remember that we have the ability to suck up rather
large amounts of bandwidth and disk space, so we have to be mindful of
not overwhelming the resources that exist - that said, it would be nice
to get these resources for the project)

it would not be only nice it is a must to run this project successful.
We need a working and reliable build bot infra structure. If we have a
problem here we have to address it and if we can't solve it inside the
ASF, we can try to find other sponsors who are interested to help with
that.

 it is frustrating to download
and end-up not having a current build to test latest patches.
IMHO it is better to use the Developer Snapshots, and if a developer
tells you that s/he has fixed the bug in trunk, wait for the next
developer snapshot to confirm. Of course, you are free to download
a nightly build, but as you've seen they are not always available.
I think it would be best if we had buildbot builds that we trust. We
have snapshot builds now, and if they do not build the right thing, we
should fix them, not discount them.

exactly we want build bots that produce reliable output comparable to
the release builds. That means also that we need build bots that fulfill
our requirements and more important our baseline that is probably not
ASF standard.

for non-programmer give his contributions and the respective credits
 and recognition.

I agree it is importantbut translations are just as important as code,
and we would not open our code so non-committers can change what they want
? For code contributions the committer is supposed to use a special comment
to give the credit, maybe translator-committers can do the same with the
note field.

I hope everybody is aware the the credit is only available in pootle,,,not
in our svn, which is the original, so in other words no-one can tell how
long the credit survives (clearly inside a release window the db will not
be reset).

I dont have too much experience, but I would think, the active
committer-translators knows who the active potiential committers are
without a statistic.

Very interesting. Especially the RPM vs Deb packaging information. I
supposed this is due to the popularity of Ubuntu and it's cousins. A lot

Nice post, a lot of good information.

The RPM vs DEB seems more undecided to me than what Rob writes: it was
around 1:1, it is now around 1:1 and during the year it went up to 1.4:1
and down to 0.8:1, but I wouldn't call it a steady decline overtime.
It should be seen on a longer timescale, when our data span a longer

Re: Results of the Apache OpenOffice 4.0 Logo Survey

2013-05-15 Thread Kevin Grignon
Hi Rob,

Attached for your consideration is my refined logo submission.

My refined logo includes refinements to the gulls/pages emphasis, font,
font weight, font kerning, and layout.

For the orb and gulls, I've emphasized the gulls curves to be more
representative of book pages, and generally stronger visually.

For the logo type, I've updated my font to Open Sans, which I had in an
earlier sketch but didn't submit for the voting. This font is available
from Google Fonts and would allow us to use this font for website
typography when we extend the styling updates to our websites.

The other thing to note is the download script issue we had in the

ratio? It is curious that the spike in RPM is the same time as the

All, I am sorry there is a typo in my call for email, for bug
confirmation, I need your BZ(bugzilla) ID for bug assignment instead of
Testlink ID which is for test execution.

BZ:
https://issues.apache.org/ooohttp://aootesting.adfinis-sygroup.org/login.php?note=expired
BZ ID = Login Name

Regards,
Yu Zhen

 Hi All,

Currently we have rough 700 - 800 critical bugs in backlog, nearly 300 out
of them remain unconfirmed. If you have interest in joining the bug
confirmation work, could you please let me know your Testlink ID, I will
 assign bugs to you.

 Thanks very much!

 Regard,
 Yu Zhen
