Should we link About from http://www.openoffice.org/why/index.html in some way? in general I think it can be a good place or linking. However, the FAQs are mostly outdated. Does it make sense to do the linking without a greater review and rework? If we decide for a rework I would comment out any linking to the FAQs and replace at least the inital webpage temporarily with an under construction message. Marcus Marcus and Kay; Many of those FAQ's were merged into the FAQ pages on the mwiki. I had thought I had notified the dev list and requested those pages be redirected to the mwiki, but it is possible I checked it off as done on my todo list but never sent the e-mail. I will double check on which pages I did and where I added them ion the wiki. Keith Thanks Keith. This is certainly helpful information. We would certainly be grateful for more current information on the FAQs. And if we are now maintaining them on the wiki, this would be easier for volunteers as well. right. So, a new task when the CMS is working again. Marcus - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.apache.org

Janet, Thank you for your follow-up. Are you saying that with this week’s updates to Windows 10, your problem disappeared? There is a report that the named file is locked for editing. (This is slightly different than saying the files are read-only.) WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING TO YOU ... If you followed the procedure given in the message, REPORTING Windows 10 Upgrade Issues: BASIC SITUATION and you find that *some* of your existing files are locked for editing while *others* including new ones you make are completely usable, try this procedure. TRY THIS 1. With any locked for editing file open, use File | Save As ... to save the file in the same place with a modification of the name. Then use Windows File Explorer to find the location of the locked version and delete it. This protects against opening the wrong one at a future time. 2. For any document that was described as locked for editing when you opened it, close the document if it is open and perform the following procedure. a. Note the location of the folder for the document. Open that folder in the Windows File Explorer. b. That folder probably has a hidden file named .~lock.your-file-name#, where your-file-name is the name of the file (without the folder part) that you found locked for editing. Use the File Explorer to delete that file. c. If you don't see such a file, it may be that File Explorer is not showing them to you. Here's how to make certain that they are visible: (i) In the Windows File Explorer window that is opened to the folder that has the file, select the View tab. (ii) In the Layout section of the View options, select Details. You can always change the view of folders to any other case later. Use Details for troubleshooting, as in this case. (iii) In the Show/hide section of the View options, CHECK File name extensions and Hidden items. (iv) That should reveal any hidden lock files in the folder you are viewing. Delete the ones that apply to documents you are using in Apache OpenOffice. IF YOU DON'T SUCCEED If you have different messages when opening a file in OpenOffice, please create a new message. Re: Quick suggestion for Calc re: switching sheets
Am 08/11/2015 10:42 PM, schrieb Josh Brunner: I have a quick usability suggestion for Calc. Recently, I wanted to copy multiple non-sequential lines from one sheet, paste these into a new sheet, then go back and delete those lines from the original sheet. I noticed that when I navigate to the second sheet, paste those lines, then navigate back to the first sheet, my selections are deselected. So if I had selected 20 random lines, upon going back I would have no idea which ones I selected. The easiest way to resolve this would be to allow cutting of selected non-sequential lines, right now I get an error message when attempting that. The other way would be to simply retain the selected lines for the user when switching between sheets. It makes sense to use this as the default as all the user needs to do to deselect is click into any cell as usual, but save them the frustration of trying to sort out which lines were selected. thanks for your suggestion. You are not alone with your wishes. Regarding the selecting/deselecting cells, I've found a very similar feature request in our issue tracker. Even when it's a bit older it is still valid: Cell is deselected when switching sheet. https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=2475 Regarding of copying/cuting non-sequential rows, this enhancement request is existing here. non-contiguous copy/paste https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=26329 HTH Marcus - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.apache.org
