Norwegian translation for website

2016-01-07 Thread j.nitsc...@ok.de
Hello,

there is a new Norwegian translation for the heavily outdated sites
https://www.openoffice.org/no/
on bugzilla. all credits to Jan Høydahl
https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=126776

if someone with web karma could take a look

This is being discussed on the l10n list and Marcus volunteered to take
care of this during the weekend (thanks!). By the way, Marcus, while you
are at it, we also have a eu-test to eu transition ready (see l10n list).

Both these operations are to be done with the command-line SVN: it is
too painful to upload all files through the CMS.

  Andrea.

OK, haven't seen this so far.

Sure, I would never consider the idea to do such work via CMS. ;-)

OpenOffice and SourceForge: cruel wedding

2016-01-07 Thread FR web forum
Hello forum,

There are regularly messages complaining of costly or spammed OpenOffice on the
french forum.
Because end-users don't have ad blocker, Sf.net shows links to para-sites.
The download of the genuine OpenOffice appears delayed, so the user click on
this "fake" OpenOffice.
As for other projets, I think Apache must not accept such situation:

Hi Roberto,

Is it possible for SourceForge to implement an active blocking if any ad that
has "Office" or "OpenOffice" anywhere in the content?

I understand there are technical challenges. If that is difficult is it
possible to simply block all ads?

Regards,
Dave

Re: OpenOffice and SourceForge: cruel wedding

2016-01-07 Thread Dave Fisher
The choice to go with sourceforge was not about stats. OpenOffice binaries are
quite substantial. There was concern about if all the Apache mirrors could
handle the load.

Patience! Let's see what Roberto has to say. SourceForge has been generous.

Dave

It's not as simple as that, some evildoers create ad buttons that show the
word "download" or a "play" button (forward triangle).

It should be really easy to fix for SF.net if they wanted:

1. CLEAR MESSAGE in bold text, +2 typeface "Your download will start
automatically, DO NOT CLICK anywhere until it has started".

2. CLEAR separation of the ads and the page information, e.g. 3-pixel thick
line/separator, with the text "ADVERTISING SPACE".

I wonder if anyone from AOO has approached them and requested they
implement something like this?. LEGIT advertisers shouldn't oppose...
