ApacheConNA

2019-08-25 Thread Patricia Shanahan
I seem to have a good gap in my medical treatments covering early
September, so I am planning to attend the ApacheCon in Las Vegas. I
would like to meet any other OpenOffice interested people who will be there.

Re: Recent files in Windows

2019-08-25 Thread Peter Kovacs
Hi Pedro,

thanks for the information on the state. My intend taken aside, I rather
fix something I am sure of being successful on, instead of something
that is beyond my skill / knowledge.

But my intend is not to do a fix now. As you might remember I started to
keep a list of all sorts of Issue and try to cluster them to "epics".

The idea is, to solve not one issue but multiple issues in one go,
independent of priority only on the question that they are similar. My
hope is that by taking this advance a proposed solution delivers in
total a better design in comparison to a design that has been of each
issues on its own. In this context it was not clear to me if this issue
can not be closed as "won't fix". But then again I think we should bind
this one more to the fate on the quick starter in general.

What are the much needed improvements you think about? - Just checking
if I have those in my epics. ;)

This was an enhancement request and the feature is still missing. But Quick
Starter is now an option not selected by default. Most users won't even know
what the Quickstarter is, let alone deliberately turning it on.

Personally I always felt that pre-loading programs was a bad idea: in a slow
computer it would make the first boot even slower and on fast computers it was
irrelevant...

I believe that if there are any Quickstarter users left they would prefer that
the developers would spend their time in other much needed improvements...

Re: contributing to Apache

2019-08-25 Thread Peter Kovacs
There is no reason to apologize. It is all fine good. We have the tool
for communicating. Which is very important to do.

Where are you looking at? https://wiki.openoffice.org is our Mediawiki.
( short Mwiki).

We have also a Confluence Wiki (short Cwiki)

We have a static Webside.

I am not aware that we have a plan where to go. So maybe start with
making a plan and introduce it to us on the dev Mailiing list (short: @dev)

Or does anyone have a plan what there is to do with the Documentation?
(Except the technical migration see other thread: [1] and [2]

Hey Peter,

Thank you for the reply. I think as of now a good place to start is
documentation. Is there an area I can start? I am going to take a look
again at the Apache website.

Take care,
