Online update of AOO-XX

The functional portion of the AOO will be stable, but the translation may
require updating frequently since  better translation, standardization will
keep coming. At the least this will true of Tamil translation. A lot more
work need to be done to make AOO easily usable by Tamil population.

My suggestion will be to provide a feature to update  the translation
automatically, periodically, so that the AOO-XX will be keep improving in
the background.

One more feature is also required for the AOO-XX.  When ever a translated
string appears as a pop up / warning / notification, that window shall have
a button ( Show original) . User shall be able to see the original English
text by clicking that button, and further options shall be available to
suggest improved translation.

finishing the installation. Since this is not an option, a must for every

Pre-requisite for Tamil Version of AOO 4.0

Today I downloaded AOO-TA and installed under Windows XP. Tamil text were
not displayed properly and I could not type in Tamil word. Then I reported
this in Bugzilla and I got back immediate reply, there is some thing wrong
in the OS. Check it. Then, I downloaded, a small package from Google,
installed as per the instruction and now I am able to type.

Google offers phonetic typing. For example I want to type my name in Tamil,
I have to press the following keys

If I want to type as per the Tamil keyboard, then I have to type the
following keys

fly

With out these pre-requisites, AOO-TA can not be used.

My suggestion is , while installing AOO, there should be a screen telling
about this prerequisite and providing required links, so that they can
install the same and use AOO-TA

 it all, once we have picked the main logo.

 We can even start now to collect technical requirements of these
 treatments, such as aspect ratio,

 4) There are other elements of the brand refresh that we should look
 at as well, like updating toolbar icons.  The connection to the logo
 is subtle here.  I think it has more to do with the color palette,
 degree of saturation, lighting effects, etc.  I am not a designer, so
 we really need someone with expertise to step up and make a proposal
 here on what we should do.

I am using an old desk top. I have installed Ubuntu 11.01. This comes with
Libre Office, as you know. And all other softwares and programs are from
open source. I do web design, photo editing, video editing, Printed Circuit
Board Design, and above all use text documents and spreadsheets. All using
open source.

other, it will reach a height of 48KM ( 1.2 mm x 4000 / 1000 ) in
meter. It will be taller than the tallest mount Everest by 4 times. This is
close to highest altitude achieved by a jet plane. ( Kindly recheck the
calculation )

 3) Integrate completed translations into OpenOffice

 4) Include translated OpenOffice in our releases and in our distribution
 network

 5) Help promote the translation effort, via blog, perhaps press
 interviews, help spread awareness.

 Timor-Leste is the newest nation in our galaxy (as far as we know), and, as
 a 'fragile state', access to free and reliable resources is really
 important. Most of the tech world still doesn't recognise Timor-Leste as
 existing (my iPhone's version of Google Maps, for instance, has no record
 of the capital city, Dili). Having worked at the only technical college in
 the country, I can say that very few people reach tertiary education, and,
 when they do, there are almost no Timor-based resources available for
 students to use. Schools cannot afford many copies of MS programmes, and
 are using out-of-date copies of everything (not to mention the regular
 nation-wide blackouts and enormous computers!), which slows down the
 education and administrative process.

 Additionally, the major native language of Timor-Leste is endangered - the
 Dutch colonisation introduced Portuguese across the country, and the 1975
 Indonesian invasion and brutal 25-year occupation has left many young
 Timorese people resorting to Bahasa Indonesia as a common language. Without
 a Timorese influence in schools (for education) and government (for
 employment), within ten years, the Timorese will probably not have a native
 language.

 Wouldn't it be great if we could provide a version of the Open Office
 website in the native language of Timor-Leste - Tetun/Tetum?

 And wouldn't it be great if there was a Tetun/Tetum language dictionary for
 Open Office, so that Timorese people could write documents in their own
 language and possibly retain some knowlege of this ancient spoken language
 in written form, to spread throughout their communities and reinforce the
 notion that Tetun/Tetum is a viable and valuable/valued choice?

 I have the language resources and the energy to begin working on this
 project. It is up to you guys to decide if you are willing to take on this
 important task and help Timor-Leste retain its culture and educate its
 people while gaining a valuable technical resource.
