Help says:

  Print Statement [Runtime]

Outputs the specified strings or numeric expressions to a dialog or to a
file.

Syntax:

Print [#FileName,] Expression1[{;|,} [Spc(Number As Integer);] [Tab(pos
As Integer);] [Expression2[...]]

But I don't know if that helps.

That's the fix for the regression.

Damjan's fix never did make it to AOO41X:

https://svn.apache.org/viewvc?view=revision=1720071

But since the Tab function is mentioned in our Help but actually never
was in code, I think this does fix a bug in AOO41X.

Missing Tab function in OpenOffice BASIC

2022-08-07 Thread Matthias Seidel
Hi,

Damjan added the missing Tab function in 2015:

https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=19221#c9

It was done in trunk (4.2.0) at that time.

However it introduced a regression that was fixed now in trunk and AOO42X.

@Carl: Maybe you want to add a qa test for that function?

@All: Would it make sense to cherry-pick this for AOO41X?

We do have some issues with Ubuntu (GNOME) and other distributions when

Yes, right after install, the store says "installed", but after closing
it the information is lost.
This is only for "traditional" Apps (like OpenOffice, VLC) that are not
handled by the store infrastructure itself.

MS is aware of that, nothing we can do... IMHO, the store itself is
still "work in progress" ;-)

I don't see that "AND" is correct.

It affects me also without using the "OpenOffice dialog" when I am using
a Master password to access any of my credentials. That's the case when
you use the MediaWiki extension.

Re: [Discussion] Pootle Migration - Git Connection

2022-07-12 Thread Matthias Seidel
Hi all,

To be honest, I think we don't have the (wo)man power to maintain
translations for two branches.

It would be better to concentrate on AOO42X and to export translations
to the source on a regular base.

E.g. we now have a complete Ukrainian UI on Pootle, but I cannot build a
test version, because the translation is not in our code.

Regards,

Re: Installation

2022-07-08 Thread Matthias Seidel
Hi,

NG talked about making the instructions for installing AOO on Linux more
clear for the end user.
E.g. "cd" could be explained as "change to the directory". That's
something we should think about...

However, since AOO is not part of any repository (I know of) it now has
to be installed by hand.

This is a headache, given the numerous distributions and desktop
environments. It may be even more stressful when "another" Office
package is already installed as default.

Andrea Pescetti had an interesting talk at FOSDEM 2022 about Linux
packaging:

https://fosdem.org/2022/schedule/event/openoffice_linux_packaging/

If we want to have an "easy to install" package for Linux we need to do
something in this respect.

Otherwise AOO will remain with 1-2% users that download for Linux.

Regards,

2022-07-07 Thread Matthias Seidel
Hi all,

My understanding is that everyone can test *and* vote for the Release
Candidate.
At least this is what I did before I became a committer...

Even if these votes are not binding, it ensures that a wider audience
has had an eye on the changes.

We have a lot of knowledgeable people only reading this list and/or
being active on the forums.
Maybe some want to take the opportunity?

You are right regarding transparency... I didn't think of that.

But then we should at least embed the used font(s).

While not using PDF-1A may reduce the size because fonts etc. are not
embedded in the PDF we lose the control over the appearance of the PDF
on the user side.

Reducing the quality of the graphics might work, but in the end I think

OK, that's another problem. The database is unreliable.

The only solution I found in such a situation is to store the extension

Feel free to install a different version, you should be asked if you

7-ZIP should be able to unpack it, but I am not sure if that would make
it installable. If setup.exe doesn't work from the extracted folder,
then something is wrong with your Windows installer.

Just my 2 cents:

Personally, I would like to see *much* more people download and test at
least the binaries.

And yes, that is also true for members of the PMC. ;-)

The Release Candidate is good for production/GA:

 [X] yes / +1

 [ ] no / -1

 My vote is based on

[ ] binding (member of PMC)

[X] I have built and tested the RC from source on platform [FreeBSD]

 [ ] I have tested the binary RC on platform [ ]

I tested the source tarball checksum.

Opening, editing, saving existing calc and writer docs works.

While browsing through Bugzilla I sometimes find issues that were fixed
in a certain release without knowing that an issue existed. Then I
change them to FIXED and set the milestone accordingly,

They do show up in the list now. This does not happen very often, but I
am OK with that.

It could help to change the status to "Waiting for Infra" for that ticket.

At the moment it is "Waiting for User" so Infra is waiting for input...

They are very intermittent, sometimes working, more frequently
 timing out.  Out of
curiosity, please try a traceroute to forum.openoffice.org, which
might show up if there was
a connection problem on the route(s) to that site.

It was reported that the server had been restarted, so the problem
 may be elsewhere.
