It seems that this "similar blather" is PUNJABI, a language spoken by over 100 
million of native speakers...

not bad at all for a "squiggle", huh?

What I mean is that you should be more respectful when writing to this list 
about other people's cultures.

Reproduced here with freshly-installed en-US on Windows 7 - I paste the text, 
the Windows "OpenOffice 4.0.0 has stopped working" comes up.
Behaves correctly in LO 4.1.0.4. Is there a bug report yet?

Hi,

when connecting to the application by windbg the crash seems to happen 
in i18npool.uno.dll. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get any symbols to 
give more details.

the text, the Windows "OpenOffice 4.0.0 has stopped working" comes up.

Win 7.
AOO 4.0 German and Italian.
Just installed.
Profile migrated from 3.4 (I think, I was not exactly sure of what I
clicked).
Internet Explorer 10 and Opera 11.something.
Empty document.

Copied the text in the side bar of the page

Starting from "In anderen Sprachen" to "Links bearbeiten" (included).

Pasted from the menu and with ctrl+v => crash.

Copy & pasting that piece is enough to crash AOO 4.0 Writer or Impress,
while Calc works fine if pasting not in "edit mode" (i.e. not pasting in
the formula bar, pasting in the bar results in a crash as well).
