RE: errors in writer (formula)

2015-11-29 Thread Dennis E. Hamilton
Using OpenOffice Math on Windows 10 en_US, the formula "a cdot b + b" seems to
have the dot missing but no problem with the + spacing unless it is a kerning
problem on the italic "b". If I zoom in very closely, I see that a small dot
has been juxtaposed to the "a".

This appears to be a problem with font availability/substitution when Apache
OpenOffice 4.1.2 is installed on Windows 7, 8 and Windows 10.

See <https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=124203>.

The workaround is to perform the font substitution described in Comment 4
there. It seems to solve both problems described by Howard.

 The formula
a cdot b
produces the expected result for me on Windows 7 with AOO 4.1.2. I also
don't see any spacing problem with +.

errors in writer (formula)

2015-11-28 Thread Howard Morris (aka Col Boogie)
Gang,
I have been using the formula in writer lately. For ‘cdot’, a command to
put a dot between two symbols to indicate multiplication, the dot is not
showing up in the document. The other multiplication binary operator ‘times’
that puts an x between two symbols to indicate multiplication is working fine.
I have used this before and think it is a new error
Another minor problem, I am not sure if it is new, is for the plus (+) and
minus (-) operators there appears to be a (half?) space after the operator,
but nor space before the operator. Yes I can force the (half) space using the
(`) or (~) character. Another words “1 + 2” should be the default, not “1+ 2”.
