Turn on grid lines, either in OOo under Tools.Options.Calc.View or in
Excel.

Which, btw, is also true for your mail with the wide left border and
misplaced line breaks.

There are no border widths of 1.5 or 2.0 available, values offered are
1.0 and 2.5 pt, so how do you set other values?
