Hello Biswesh,
great to see interested students that early. Let me start by noting that
it's still a bit time until we know if Google even accepts us as a
mentoring organization!
For development related questions this mailing list you choose is a good

Hi all,
next week, starting with March 20th, students can start to apply for a
project and submit proposals until April, 4th. That's why we should
start and add mentors to the GSoC platform so they can see and read
student proposals as early as possible. For that I have to invite you as
a mentor.
Hello Subhani,
thank you for your interest in our great project OpenStreetMap!
As you might have noticed on the GSoC page, there's a link for each
organization where you can find a list of project ideas students might
work on. Our list is in the wiki, here:
Hi all,
as a little follow-up: The EGW has discussed about this year's GSoC,
about interested students and the current list of project ideas. We have
a really nice list of project ideas, but we don't have a mentor for each
of them. As an admin I have to make sure we have at least one mentor per

thank you for considering our great project OpenStreetMap.

Hi all,
so I applied for this year's GSoC today and started to setup and update
the wiki pages accordingly. The deadline for organisations to apply is

Hi Devansh,
you have started in the right direction for sure. We value students
being proactive, students that make themselves known to our beloved
project and students that had a first glance at the project they want to
contribute to. So all this is great.
What we need to do is to find a

Hello Anagha,
as you might know, OpenStreetMap and the ecosystem is realy huge. There
is not a single "OpenStreetMap repository". We have different editors,
we have a webfrontend, we have the API, different rendering stacks, we
have services built upon OSM data, we have data processing tools
Hi all,
quick update on that. As you might be aware, we had been accepted as an
organisation for this year's GSoC and today was the deadline for student
applications.
We got the amazing number of 37 students who applied and we'll review
the applications carefully the next weeks. I'll keep you
Hello Saad,
your project sounds really interesting and I hope you'll succeed with
it. And I'd be very happy if you'd switch to OSM instead of Google Maps

However, I'm afraid we can't accept you for this year's GSoC mainly for
Hi Wilson,
Thank you for your interest in OSM and GSoC.
The project idea you're talking about is actually meant in a
different way. What we'd like to achive is a way to generate
virtual camera flights. I.e. you use the OSM2World GUI to define
waypoints and direction vectors to look at, i.e. the

just to let you know, Ian Dees, Tordanik and I are this year's org admins
for GSoC. We did prepare and submit our application in time and we will be

Also remember that you can still add more project ideas to make the list
Hi,
starting tomorrow, organizations can start to apply for this year's
Google Summer of Code. As I did not hear objections, I'll work on it,
once I know what has to be done (they have a new project manager
starting this year, so not sure yet what things will change).
Anyways, I set up the wiki

the deadline has passed and I'd like to notify you about the

as I wrote in my other post, we have 54 applications by 48

just a quick reminder: Tomorrow, 27.3. at 19:00 UTC is the
