Re: [OSM-dev] (unofficial) Mapnik 0.7.1. packages for Ubuntu 10.04

2010-12-25 Thread Peter
I'd expect the osm.xml file in /etc/package/
But if you can host these packages for lucid somewhere as .deb, please do so!

I'm working on a Lucid-based Tileserver distribution (not yet
functional) and this would be a huge help for me!
Especially since you already have the .py scripts, osm stylesheet and
world shapefiles included :)

Merry Christmas everyone!

 * Where to put the config (osm.xml) and auxiliary files (boundaries
 etc.)?

osm.xml and its include files should probably be in
/usr/share/doc/package/examples/.  The world boundary shapefiles would
probably be best somewhere under /usr/share/package/.  It might also be
useful to have a separate package for the world files, since their changes
are independent of mapnik's (and users might potentially want the
shapefiles without mapnik).  Since the symbols are less likely to be
modified by end users, they would probably be best in
 /usr/share/package/symbols/.

I don't think would even require patching generate_xml.py, since you can
pass the location of the include and world boundary directories as
 parameters.

An alternate approach, if you make the assumption that most people wo
install the package will be using the stylesheets unchanged, would be to
put all the stylesheets somewhere under /usr/share/package/, too.

Re: [OSM-dev] Node stuck in the database?

2010-12-25 Thread Phil! Gold
* Matt Amos zerebub...@gmail.com [2010-12-24 20:12 +]:
there were a few dead processes holding locks in the database, mainly
changeset closes for some reason. i've killed these and the locks have
been released. could you please try again and let me know if you're
still able to reproduce the stall on any of those nodes?

That seems to have worked. My first upload (changeset 6757192) died part
of the way through with this console message:

  PUT http://api.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/node/393386023... Internal Server
Error
Waiting 10 seconds ... OK - trying again.
  Starting retry 1 of 5.
  PUT http://api.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/node/393386023... Conflict

When I tried the upload again (changeset 6758910), everything succeeded,
including node 393386023.

Thanks!
