Re: [OSM-dev] Nominatim geocoding for Japanese address

Not street based. So perhaps it would need some enhancement on Nominatim. (from my memory, block based search is already implemented.) Nominatim is now able to handle 'street-less' addresses but I'm not sure that this covers addresses in Japan adequately. There is no problem to extend Nominatim with a specific block-based addressing schema. The main isssue is that it is not quite clear if there ever has been a consensus about the tagging of block-based addresses. As all the developers of Nominatim are based in countries with street-based addressing schemas, we really need to rely on you there. So it would be great if you could discuss in your community the tagging again and find a consensus if not yet has been reached, document that on a wiki-page and file a trac ticket for Nominatim with a link to that wiki page and some example areas where the schema is already being used. Re: [OSM-dev] Nominatim geocoding for Japanese address
I am. :) Wow! :) Japanese address system I made Japanese address structure for OSM, last year. And got consensus between Japanese mappers. also reported in Tagging ML. https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2013-September/014816.html Documentation is written in Japanese, but certainly need more easy description. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/JA:Key:addr#.E6.97.A5.E6.9C.AC.E3.81.AE.E4.BD.8F.E6.89.80.E8.A1.A8.E8.A8.98.E3.81.AB.E3.81.A4.E3.81.84.E3.81.A6 Block structure detail (too complex, sorry) http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/JA:Addresses Problem is the absence of address data on Japanese area. As my early mail, most of admin boundary relation is broken. But if we could do so detailed search on OSM, I'm very happy to encourage to collect address data on Japan :) Here is an early development that JOSM plugin for fill jp address from ZIP code. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/JA:JOSM/Plugins/JPPostalcode2Address 2014-04-08 16:06 GMT+09:00 Sarah Hoffmann lon...@denofr.de: Hi, On Mon, Apr 07, 2014 at 02:03:19PM +0900, Satoshi IIDA wrote: Although I'm not a Nominatim guy :) I am. :) I'll have a look at the data and try to answer the trac ticket later. Also see past conversation here https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2012-April/ There's real confusion right now as to how to map block level addresses. How is this done in Japan? ___ dev mailing list dev@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/dev

Can we install the Visual Editor in the Wiki? http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/VisualEditor I think this would make editing a lot easier for everybody, especially new users who are unfamiliar with the formatting. The Visual Editor makes some things easier that aren't that hard in the first place, but the integration of advanced features such as templates suffers. As templates are used a lot in our wiki, even within text paragraphs (e.g. the Key and Tag templates), this is a major drawback. The feature is also officially still in Beta, and I'm not sure how well it works with other already installed or desirable extensions. ___ dev mailing list dev@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/dev
