Same issue with blocks except that the translator cannot fix the great
combination of past and future:
The state of a block is shown as (when ending in the future)
|Endet in vor einem Tag
translated:
|Ends in one day ago
Not sure if ruby offers other time functions, else this issue maybe
should escalated upstream.

The Ruby function returns in English and German other things.
So the German string has to adapt (drop "vor", while "ago" is
kept). But a change in English is not necessary.
Btw: The translation updates are quite rare (this cannot be
changed by osm admins), so do not expect a quick change on the
website.

Hi Holger,
I think before I should try to update the translations someone has to
update the pattern strings, e.g.
"%{time} ago"
should be
"%{time}"
when %{time} contains the (translated) word at the right position.

I just fixed a translation to Dutch that's been bothering me for a while.
If you want to translate to German:
- register on the website
- check about 20 translations to prove you're worthy
- wait a couple of minutes (in my case) for manual quality control of your
work
- fix the translation
I don't know how long it takes for translations to show up on the website.
