So please go to Translatewiki and help make OpenStreetMap available in your language! We've solved the outstanding issues that were holding up the sync. I've now commited the Translatewiki translations to trunk (but they're not live on the website yet). http://trac.osm.org/changeset/17832 http://trac.osm.org/changeset/17836 We now have 26 new languages. Which more than doubles the previous 25. Some of them are really small but a few are almost complete translations of the website. Hopefully Potlatch will be translatable within a few days. ___ dev mailing list dev@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/dev

To add Potlatch some internal changes need to be done in Potlatch itself. I've filed a bug detailing what these are: http://trac.openstreetmap.org/ticket/2304 I don't think Richard minds this change to Potlatch but he'd rather not do the work since he's working on Potlatch 2. Changing this is easy even if you're not familiar with Potlatch, you just have to change all the calls to the iText(): remove the first parameter and split it ont a YAML file. If you (or someone else) interested in seeing Potlatch on Translatewiki solving that bug is the first step towards doing that. The second one is hacking an importer/exporter for Potlatch's YAML format for Translatewiki. That's easy though, it's just a matter of reusing the existing YAML code without all the complexities we had to deal with for supporting applications using Rails' i18n framework. ___ dev mailing list dev@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/dev

This is great! But which OSM components does this cover? I originally floated the idea in July[1] and after meeting up with the maintainers of Translatewiki at Wikimania 2009[2] we made it happen. Nikerabbit and Siebrand (Translatewiki guys) have done some great work on making this happen. If you want to translate OpenStreetMap site you can now do so at the Translatewiki site: http://translatewiki.net/wiki/Translating:OpenStreetMap Since it was imported yesterday from the OpenStreetMap SVN server we've had 1500 edits to the translations by 10 different users. 9 of those are to languages that didn't have translations already (although they're still small): Stats for yesterday: http://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Translating:OpenStreetMap/stats/trunkoldid=1521779 Stats for today: http://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Translating:OpenStreetMap/stats/trunkoldid=1527284 Stats for *now*: http://translatewiki.net/wiki/Translating:OpenStreetMap/stats/trunk These translations aren't automatically being synced back to the OpenStreetMap SVN repository yet.
