I wish to remain part of PMC.

Regarding BookKeeper bylaws, BookKeeper has them because ZooKeeper had
them when we branched off, and my understanding is that zookeeper had
them, because hadoop had them when they branched off. As far as I'm
concerned, they're unnecessary given the default asf bylaws, but
that's a discussion for another list.

I have started a draft of the maturity model assessment.

You can find it on the wiki:
https://github.com/apache/incubator-pulsar/wiki/Apache-Maturity-Model-Assessment-for-Pulsar

Please review it and provide feedback. Once there is agreement on this
document, I think we should then do a vote to formalize the community
position regarding TLP graduation.

Hi,

Do you think it is worth having a blogs (or news) category at pulsar
website, for publishing news about releases or even blogs about new
features?

I see quite a lot of projects are doing so, for example:

Arrow: http://arrow.apache.org/blog/
Beam: https://beam.apache.org/blog/
RocketMQ: https://rocketmq.apache.org/year-archive/

Both Arrow and Beam started publishing blog posts since they were in
incubator.

[ANNOUNCE] Apache Pulsar 1.21.0-incubating released

2017-12-18 Thread Nozomi Kurihara
The Apache Pulsar team is proud to announce Apache Pulsar version
1.21.0-incubating.

This is the third Pulsar release after entering the Apache Incubator.

Pulsar is a highly scalable, low latency messaging platform running on
commodity hardware. It provides simple pub-sub semantics over topics,
guaranteed at-least-once delivery of messages, automatic cursor management for
subscribers, and cross-datacenter replication.

For Pulsar release details and downloads, visit:

https://pulsar.incubator.apache.org/download

Release Notes are at:
https://github.com/apache/incubator-pulsar/releases/tag/v1.21.0-incubating

We would like to thank the contributors that made the release possible.

Regards,

The Pulsar Team

DISCLAIMER:
Apache Pulsar is an effort undergoing incubation at The Apache Software
Foundation (ASF), sponsored by the Apache Incubator PMC. Incubation is
required of all newly accepted projects until a further review indicates that
the infrastructure, communications, and decision making process have
stabilized in a manner consistent with other successful ASF projects. While
incubation status is not necessarily a reflection of the completeness or
stability
of the code, it does indicate that the project has yet to be fully endorsed by
the ASF.

I haven't confirmed the behaviour with source, but I can confirm that
two netty jars are being pulled in:

$ cat all/target/classpath.txt | sed 's/:/\n/g' | grep netty
/home/ivan/.m2/repository/io/netty/netty-all/4.1.12.Final/netty-all-4.1.12.Final.jar
/home/ivan/.m2/repository/org/asynchttpclient/async-http-client-netty-utils/2.1.0-alpha26/async-http-client-netty-utils-2.1.0-alpha26.jar
/home/ivan/.m2/repository/com/typesafe/netty/netty-reactive-streams/2.0.0/netty-reactive-streams-2.0.0.jar
/home/ivan/.m2/repository/io/netty/netty/3.10.1.Final/netty-3.10.1.Final.jar

The discussion was a PM on slack. I wanted to confirm it wasn't a
known issue/configuration thing before going to list.

Please add an exclude to the pom.xml:

It is up to the Release Manager to decide to fix the exclude now and recut the

I also recommend removing the inactive license check plugin -

That's great that YJ is going to drive 1.21. But we would still need one

Hi all,

since we have released pulsar-1.20.0-incubating, a lot of fixes have been
committed.
Though we don't have many new features, some of the fixes or improvements
are significant and I think it would be good to create a release so that
people trying out Pulsar won't encounter them.

In particular, I'm thinking of :
 * Enhancements to Kafka API wrapper to have it work with Kafka's own
benchmark tools
 * Fix to C++ partitioned consumer client
 * Several fixes and improvements related to the namespace bundles

Even though it's mostly fixes, I think it would still make sense to call
the release 1.21.0 rather than 1.20.1.

My opinion would be to close the 1.21 soon (~1week timeframe). Please
propose any changes that you think should get included.

Thoughts? Anyone wants to volunteer as a release manager?

The fix for the encoding and the missing javadoc pages is in PR
https://github.com/apache/incubator-pulsar/pull/582

Once the the build passes, it should be ready to merge, please take a look
as well.

Great job!

Some encoding issue occurs in the Japanese documents.
We will check it.

Nice! Looks good.

1. Under "Client Libraries", the links below C++ returns 404 except
"Python docs".

2. There seems to be some encoding issue: e.g:

https://pulsar.incubator.apache.org/docs/latest/getting-started/ConceptsAndArchitecture/#Architectureoverview,
I see texts like "Pulsar’s key features include:"

Nozomi & Yuki,

When I go to japanese under documentation, it does not look Japanese
to me:) Can you also check?

Andrews.
