Hi all,

We will plan to drop the Java 8 support starting from Sedona 1.6.0.
This means: 1. We will compile our source code using JDK 11. 2. We
will start to use new APIs provided by Java 11, in the source code. 3.
Users will no longer be able to run Sedona on any Java 8 environment.

This decision is mainly driven by the underlying engines. Both Spark
and Flink have or will default their Java to 11 or higher versions,
Snowflake UDFs have been using Java 11 already.

Please feel free to share if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks,
Jia
