Roll back Commons Validator dependancy ( was Struts 1.2.1 release plan)

2004-06-09 Thread Ted Husted
I just found out I've been patching and testing the wrong branch of the Commons Validator component :( Between this snafu and the issues with Struts Faces, perhaps the best thing would be to roll back the changes that create a dependence on Commons Validator 1.1.3. Do we know if there are any d

It doesn't appear that any of the nightly builds are running; not just struts-faces. I checked this morning and struts hasn't built since June 5 and neither has struts-faces. Perhaps Craig turned off his machine??? Craig are you out there -James -Original Message- From: Martin

Robert, It's very important to remember that the mere fact we roll a release doesn't mean it will ever get past alpha. The overall average at Jakarta seems to be five or six alpha/beta releases to each stable release. This will be the second point release in the 1.2.x series. It may be voted st

I'm not using Struts Faces in production, but that shouldn't matter. The point is that 99% of Struts users don't use the nightly builds. People won't be using Struts-Faces for a long time unless it supports 1.1. -James -Original Message- From: Michael Rasmussen [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

The issue with the validator that prevents the struts-faces code from working with Struts 1.1 and CVS head is the removal of .ValidatorUtil and the creation of .util.ValidatorUtils. Struts 1.1 use ValidatorUtil and the CVS head uses util.ValidatorUtils. The thing that could fix this is to

Since you patched HEAD, maybe we should forget about the branch and 1.1.3 and just release 1.2.0. If 1.2.0 is a dud we can quickly patch it and release 1.2.1. Quick releases are one benefit of the (IMO confusing) httpd style versioning. I would rather see us moving forward than rolling back patc

Actually, I don't think any Struts release has included a validator 1.1.x build. So we haven't given people a chance to remove references to deprecated functionality that has been removed in the 1.2.x series. You could either apply the patches to the branch or just release 1.1.3 from the branch
