Few important issues were discovered in the latest 2.3.20 version -
I'm going to prepare another 2.3 release with just few the most
important issues. If you have any other issues that must be addressed
with this release please report them ASAP :)

Unrelated, but has the build process changed significantly?
I had to play games to get things compiling last time, but that's
partially because I've barely used Java at all over the last year or
two.

This is what I'm using locally:
mvn clean source:jar javadoc:jar install -DskipAssembly
and don't use JDK8 ;-)
