There has been some pretty extensive refactoring over the years of
the underlying taglib code to better support extensions like we are
proposing, so I don't see why you couldn't go do this yourself on
another project, or submit these as extensions.

You are right, that seems odd.
I really like 'core' since it seems (to me anyway) to encapsulate the
'core' of the framework, but I'm not married to it, and I know how
(sometimes) being too close to something makes it harder to see the
'forrest' ;)
Sounds good to me.
I have a plan for how I'll instrument the build to be 1.4/1.5 aware
and behave accordingly. I just haven't put it down in bits yet ;) I
hope to get to that soon though since it seems to be holding up some
of the other tasks I'm on.

I had to fix one other small problem with the Maven build for apps,
but I've fully tested this change and it works fine. Not sure if any
wants the same in 1.2.x, but I can do it there if there is interest.

For HEAD, this means getting the maven build streamlined, which I've
already done some work on, but things could be even faster. I'll

relying on Gump is that Gump does not build all of what the nightlies

The nightlies are actually built from a clean checkout of http://
svn.apache.org/repos/asf/struts/current/.
So, doing a 'clean' doesn't really apply here.
What specifically is the issue? Are we missing nightlies?

I'll take a look at it.
The initial plan for 'shared' was to prevent a bunch of duplicate
'one-off' mailreaders from getting out of sync, but no-one has
attempted doing a single 'one-off', so I assume it is safe to put it
back the way we originally had
The mailreader.war artifact contains the source (thanks Wendy!), but
it isn't a 'source distribution' in the same sense that you expect.
Is that ok, or do we have to have a build-able source distro?

one by hand.
FYI - Shale Mailreader does not work with MyFaces HEAD, you have to
use 1.1.0 (or a compatible release).

As far as distribution size (for releases), I suppose we could take
an approach where we package the dependencies under a separate folder
