Tested on WinXP using JDK 6u39 32-bit,

Could you test on some other XP.
I've tested 7.0.36 on Win7/x64 and XPSP3/x86 and everything works fine
Tried to restart dozen times at different stages and everything work fine.

WinXP is where I ran the testsuite.
The service trouble happened on Windows 7 (64-bit).

Just reproduced it on another Windows 7 machine with different JRE -
will update the JIRA. I cannot reproduce the blow up, but what I am
easily reproducing are abnormalities at the very same place in the log
file.

On my Win 7 Pro 64Bit I can see a startup timeout after a couple of
start/stop/restarts. That problem then persists.

Get a popup with a timeout message and code 1053 and in the event log
errors 7000 and 7009 (3 ms timeout).

I do also get a corrupt log line plus some logged errors.

Details in the Jira.

Rainer

Other than this commons daemon issue, everything else seems OK.

Attached a fixed binaries to that issue, so please verify if it works now.
The problem was with thread sync (multiple threads writing to log file)
which can happen in such 'fast test scenarios' :)
