A small update on the progress. I have added predefined Collections for each chapter in the Developer´s Guide, and added a link to the TOP of the first page of each chapter. What comes next? - Validate the Collections to make sure that no pages were missed - Compile the individual DevGuide chapters into one book - make the single book available for download on the http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Wiki_Books page After that? - Clean up the ODTs and PDFs to make them more readable and presentable - Find a way to automate the generation of the Collections so that they can easily be built on each major release (I will have to call on you guys here to help with the scripting/cronjob side of things once we are at that stage... I´ll provide more info on what needs to be done when I get there) C. -- Clayton Cornell ccorn...@openoffice.org OpenOffice.org Documentation Project co-lead StarOffice - Sun Microsystems, Inc. - Hamburg, Germany - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@api.openoffice.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@api.openoffice.org

I have had a few issues generating PDF books using the collections method. This really helps. Re: [api-dev] Adding PDF and ODT downloads for Wiki Books
I have been working on some ideas for this, and have added a new link to the three big Wiki books on the Documentation Wiki page: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation Great link (was not aware of it)! That's because I just added it yesterday :-) Would this fill the need for downloadable documentation for offline reading? *YES*, definitely! I will keep working on it. The Developer's Guide will take some time as it is a very large document... ~900 Wiki pages or ~1500 A4 pages. I also want to clean up the download versions... but that will come later. For now they will simply be static snapshots of the Collections. P.S.: Not sure who could do that: but it would be nice :) if the basic and shell code samples were color coded like the XML config files. Makes reading and comprehending *much* easier. That can be done by simply wrapping the code samples with the lang="language">code sample tags. This tag was not used when the DevGuide was ported to the Wiki - wasn't available then.
