RE: MCP Server for Apache IoTDB

2025-04-08 Thread Stephen Lawrence
Hi,

I happened to notice this repository last week and took a look.
Great work from the three of you.

I am very interested in using the MCP server in my COVESA Central Data Service
Playground as a way to get IoTDB TS data to LLMs.

Looking at the source I noticed you currently support the table data model.
Do you have any plans to extend it to also support the tree/columnar data model?
I am currently preparing for the COVESA automotive conference mid-May in Berlin,
but after we could contribute if that is something you are interested in.

btw whilst I am interrupting people:
on the topic of AI my group is finalising the work to integrate IoTDB
into a deterministic Semantic Reasoning system. From DIKW pyramid perspective,
IoTDB provides TS data from the Information Layer, which the Knowledge Layer
reasons on and provides the result. We appear to be on track to merge it in time
for the conference.

Another piece of work someone might find useful. I have integrated IoTDB support
into a CAN feeder. Southbound you can take CAN data (SocketCAN, virtual CAN, CAN
dump plus the DBC file describing it), define the mapping to the automotive VSS
data model and write the data northbound to IoTDB. Currently the IoTDB
connection
config is defined in the code, but it works.

Both are OSS.

Best Wishes,

Stephen Lawrence
